Counseling is a collaborative process where a trained professional helps you explore your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. It can assist in managing emotions, overcoming challenges, improving relationships, and fostering personal growth. It is also a space where that one hour is solely designated to you and what you are needing. In a world where there’s times we talk to people and we tell them we have one broken leg and they share they have six broken legs, it can be nice to have a space where it’s all about you and what you want to address. Counseling is also helpful because it allows someone with a bird’s eye perspective of your life to help guide you in discovering other perspectives and solutions.

Counseling can be beneficial for anyone facing challenges, experiencing emotional distress, or seeking personal development. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, or struggling with relationships, counseling may provide valuable support. Counselors address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, self-esteem, perinatal or postpartum difficulties, and more. We will tailor our approach to meet the unique needs and goals of your needs.

The duration of counseling varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some individuals may benefit from short-term counseling for specific issues, while others may engage in longer-term therapy for ongoing support and personal development. You and your therapist will create a treatment plan together and decide what goals you would like to work on throughout your time in counseling and will assess throughout treatment if you feel like you are hitting and completing those goals.
The duration of sessions is between 53-60 minutes.

It's important to find a counselor with whom you feel comfortable and understood. Things you may want to consider are their expertise, approach, and whether you feel a connection during an initial appointment.
Finding the right counselor is like trying to find the right pair of jeans. It may take trying on a few different styles until you find the right fit. It is incredibly important to have the right fit when it comes to counseling. We may joke that therapeutic growth is due to our mad skills; however, research has shown that most of the therapeutic growth comes from the relationship you have with your therapist.
It is generally recommended to try 3 sessions, and if you are still feeling like it’s not a good fit, please do not hesitate to communicate that to your therapist or call the main office, and we will make sure to provide recommendations to another therapist that may be a better fit.
Also, can we all agree that trying on jeans can be the absolute worst but when you find that right fit, it all seems worth it!
